What is Invisalign®

Invisalign® is a proven, modern approach to teeth straightening and Dr. Bruce Silva is an experienced Invisalign® Preferred Provider. The process includes the creation of a series of custom-made aligners. Made of smooth, comfortable and virtually invisible plastic, these aligner trays are worn over your teeth.

Wearing your custom-made aligners as directed will gradually and gently shift your teeth into place. These shifts will be based on the exact movements that Dr. Silva has planned out for you. With Invisalign® there are no metal brackets to attach and no wires to tighten. You simply put in a new set of aligners about every two weeks, until your treatment is complete.

With Invisalign® and Dr. Silva’s expert technique, you can achieve a great smile with minimal impact on your daily life, and the best part is that most people won’t even know you’re straightening your teeth.

How does Dr. Silva’s Invisalign® treatment process work?

We want you to be confident about choosing Invisalign® process, so we think it is important that you are familiar with each step of the treatment process, from consultation to confident smile. Whether you are considering treatment for yourself or someone else, come talk to Dr. Silva so you can be comfortable and confident in your choice, and enjoy a lifetime of better smiles.

Invisalign® Step by Step

  1. Consultation with Dr. Silva

Since this is an important decision, choosing the right treatment plan is essential. That is why we invite you to come in and talk with us about all aspects of the Invisalign® treatment. Dr. Silva is very experienced with this procedure and has received the proper Invisalign® training. During the consultation, he will evaluate your needs, determine how best to help you, and discuss your case with you in detail. This is also your opportunity to ask any questions about Invisalign® costs, dental/orthodontic insurance, or any other issues.

  1. Customized Treatment Plan

Dr. Silva will take x-rays, pictures and impressions of your teeth, from which Invisalign® will create a digital 3-D image. From these images he will map out a custom treatment plan, including the exact movements of your teeth, and tell you the approximate length of treatment. Using the same technology, Dr. Silva can show you a virtual representation of how your teeth will move with each stage of treatment. While every patient’s case is unique, the typical treatment takes between 1 to 2 years for adults and for teens depending on the pre-treatment goals. This is about the same amount of time that braces would take.

  1. Custom Aligners

Now, we create a series of custom-made, clear aligners based on your individualized treatment plan. These aligners, made of a smooth, comfortable, BPA-free plastic, will not irritate your cheeks and gums like traditional metal braces often do. Just wear them throughout the day, and remove them when you eat or when you brush and floss your teeth. Every day, as you wear each set of aligners, which are virtually invisible and unnoticeable, your teeth will be gently and gradually shifted into place.

  1. Wear a New Aligner Every Two Weeks

You will need to begin wearing a new set of aligners approximately every two weeks. This will advance you to the next stage of your treatment. You will require occasional checkups with Dr. Silva to monitor your progress. Typically, this is once every six weeks or so. Also, for best results and a timely outcome, you should wear your aligners for most of the day (20 to 22 hours) throughout your entire treatment. At every stage, you will be able to see how much closer you are to having the smile that you have always wanted!

  1. Your New Smile – Keep it Looking Great

At last, the day has come! As the treatment is completed you can celebrate because you will be smiling more than ever. Once you and Dr. Silva have successfully completed your treatment you need to protect that beautiful new smile. That means making sure that you comply with all the maintenance procedures that Dr. Silva talks to you about to keep your smile looking great. You can also check and see if you will need retainers to keep your teeth in their new position and lock in your beautiful smile.
