Digital radiography, or X-ray imaging, is where digital X-ray sensors are used instead of traditional photographic film (X-ray film). There are several advantages to digital X-rays, including time efficiencies (due to bypassing chemical processing), the ability to digitally transfer and enhance images – making images immediately available, and lower costs of processing images. Most importantly, because we utilize digital X-rays at Austin Premier Dental, there is also a considerable health benefit for our patients. Digital X-rays can use up to 90% less radiation than traditional X-rays.
